Book Artist
Duties include leading and developing book projects, design, production, and bookbinding jobs. Booksmart Studio offers three qualities of book production including our fine edition books, catalog edition books, & our Libro Collection. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in inkjet based printing & digital press printing to control the printing of our book production. The individual should have an understanding of traditional and non-traditional bookbinding, as we do not Perfect bind our books. Ninety percent of our books are hand-sewn by our staff.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Production of book projects
- Work with clients to manage logistic of project timelines
- Manage book projects in various stages of production
- Manage the production of Booksmart Studio's Libro Collection
- Documentation of techniques used in our book production
Qualifications / Skills:
- Adobe Photoshop™
- Adobe InDesign™ & QuarkXPress
- Basic Web Design
- Understanding of a color managed inkjet workflow
- Firm knowledge on non-destructive digital workflow techniques
- Digital Workflow and understanding of inkjet technology
- Basic Bookbinding
